OUR CORE VALUES

We hold to seven core values and strive to honour them in the way that we work:

We believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a public truth which transforms individual lives and the social order.

We are committed to the flourishing of local congregations and their communities – because we follow a God whose Word became flesh, and who reveals himself in Scriptures which are specific, not abstract.  Our work is only of value if we help them bear faithful, effective witness to the Gospel, and so to be a blessing to their neighbourhoods.

The Centre’s main focus is on congregations in areas of economic deprivation and of religious diversity.  We believe these to be a gift, not a burden, to the wider Body of Christ

We have a particular, but not exclusive, focus on work for social justice.  We believe this is most faithful and effective when it is done by churches also committed to the Gospel call to works of mercy and to making and growing disciples

We seek to foster trust and understanding across denominations and faiths.  We believe this is best initiated through action on local issues of common concern, without evading the need for honest conversation on issues of genuine difference and disagreement

We are aware of the dangers of shallow activism.  For this reason, we seek to ensure that all we do is rooted in gratitude to God, and an awareness that the Spirit is always at work before we arrive in a situation.   Our work, and the work of our partner churches, needs to be grounded in worship and in prayer.

We are committed to mutuality, for we believe this is at the heart of God.  For that reason, we do not want to do for others what they can do for themselves.  We and our partner churches are committed to being blessed by, as well as blessing, both our neighbours and the wider Church and world.
